  • LETTER TO PARISHIONERS -- Father Mark Schulte +

Dear Parish Family:  As you by now know, Bishop Paprocki has asked that there be no public Masses until the Easter vigil.  A public Mass is a Mass that the faithful can attend.  However, I will continue to celebrate a private Mass daily as per the Bishop's request with no congregation physically present.  I ask that you be mentally present at each of these private Masses, and make a Spiritual Communion, that is mentally contemplate receiving our Lord in the Holy Eucharist and offer your personal prayer petitions as well.  All of our parishioners and their intentions are in my mind during my private Masses.  I also ask that you try to viisit the church at some time during the day.  The church will be open for your private prayers from 8 AM to 4 PM.  Confession Times:  ST MARY -- Sunday morning at 9 AM or by appointment; ST. MARK -- Sunday morning at 11:30 AM or by appointment.  Yours in Christ Jesus, Father Mark Schulte, Pastor.     P.S.  Bulletins will continue to be available at the churches on Sunday morning as well as the parish website.

No public daily or weekend masses at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pittsfield and St.Mark's Catholic Church in Winchester until further notice.  In repsonse to Bishop Paprocki's call for a diocesan fast from the Eucharist, effective March 18, 2020 and until further notice, the Diocese of Springfield in Illiinois has replaced all public Masses and liturgical celebrations with private Masses, celebrated by priests "sine populo," that is, with no congregation physically present.  The Catholic faithful are dispensed from their Sunday obligation until further notice.  During this time, the faithful are encouraged to pray with the scripture readings of the Mass, watch the Mass on EWTN or on one of the local, private Masses being streamed live by one of our priests.  In place of the Blessed Sacrament, the faithful are encouraged to make a spiritual communion, pray the rosary, and to pray for the end to the spread of the Coronavirus, the healing of those afflicted, and strength for those caring for the sick.  LIKE ST.
